NBR Article Attacking Open Source
There is an article in today’s NBR attacking Open Source Software, and attacking it quite vehemently. You could almost believe that the writer was on the Microsoft payroll!
If you can look past the obvious anti-OSS sentiment that the author holds then there is validity in some of the points, such as around the capability of NZ IT companies to support OSS. Overall the author just comes across as a raving loon in my opinion.

I saw this article last night and I sent an email off pointing out several problems with the articles (selective quoting of reports, linking to the MS “Get the Facts” campaign and so on). Didn’t really expect to get anything back.
However this morning I got a pleasant surprise. The author returned my email with a quick couple of lines in which he said he was more opposed to blind zealotry than OSS in itself. If I get his permission I shall post both my email and his response to my blog sometime tonight.
